Florida State and Oklahoma are meeting earlier than usual in the 2024 NCAA softball tournament.
FSU softball lost to OU in the 2021 and 2023 Women's College World Series championship series. This time, the Seminoles and Sooners will square off in the super regionals with a place in Oklahoma City on the line.
FSU (46-14, 19-5 in ACC) swept its regional, rallying late to beat Chattanooga before cruising past UCF and Auburn. Oklahoma (52-6, 22-5 in Big 12) also beat all comers in its regional, holding off Oregon in the final round. The Seminoles and Sooners boast two of the six best offenses in the NCAA at 7.52 and 8.07 runs per game, respectively. FSU is led by third baseman Jaysoni Beachum, one of the nation's top freshmen with a .425 batting average and 65 RBIs, as well as catcher Michaela Edenfield (15 home runs) and Kalei Harding (64 RBIs).

OU has shortstop Tiare Jennings, whose 21 homers and 62 RBIs are among the best in the nation, and center fielder Jayda Coleman (.538 on-base percentage). But the Sooners also have an elite pitching staff: Behind Kelly Maxwell and Keirston Deal, their 1.82 team ERA is sixth-best in the NCAA.
The Sooners won Game 1 by run rule 11-3 thanks to a leadoff home run by Jennings and two homers by Alyssa Brito.
