The mid-season months of June and September are our favourites; warm weather, and touristy sites like Shipwreck Beach are less crowded. July and August are high season – hot and busy, but you can always cool off with a boat trip.

It is not very expensive, especially when compared to some Aegean islands like Mykonos, Santorini and Milos. You can find cheap and good accomodation, some restaurants with very logical prices (Malannos in Argassi comes to mind). Just don't be reluctant to explore, go off the beaten path and just ask the locals.

A Sensible Budget

You don't need to do one every night of your holiday, you want to enjoy the Laganas Strip a few nights at least. Aim to spend 150 – 250 euro on events if you buy them from ticket sellers, hotel reps or outside the clubs in Zante. So, that's about 600 euro for a week which is about £500.

On the other hand if you are heading out for meals every night it can get a bit pricey with meals including your food and drink generally being around £20 in Zante per person.

For Zakynthos, the summer is the peak season in terms of tourism. During June, July and August, you will get to experience a very vivid atmosphere, especially at the island's most popular beaches, which tend to get crowded.

Santorini has the classic and very iconic blue domes with incredible sunsets, while Zakynthos offers more affordable accommodations with equally impressive ocean views and far less tourists.
