WCWS bracket: Schedule, TV channels, streaming, scores for NCAA softball tournament games (2024)

The 2024 Women's College World Series is well underway from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

What once began as a 64-team field at the start of the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament — to say nothing of the hundreds of championship hopefuls at the start of the college softball season — has been whittled down to eight teams that stand above all others.

They are, in order of seeding: No. 1 Texas; No. 2 Oklahoma; No. 4 Florida; No. 5 Oklahoma State; No. 6 UCLA; No. 8 Stanford; No. 10 Duke; and No. 14 Alabama. Those teams doubtless can take pride in the fact they are among the last eight teams standing. But only one of them will emerge from Devon Park in OKC with a national championship in tow.

Though they may not be the No. 1 team in the field, the prohibitive favorite to take home yet another championship is Patty Gasso's Oklahoma squad, which is in a bid for a first-of-its kind four-peat in the sport of college softball. Then there's No. 1 overall seed Texas, which earned the top bid of the tournament after taking home a regular-season series victory over the Sooners.

The Longhorns likewise will be among the favorites to lift the NCAA championship trophy, thanks in no small part to national player of the year finalist Reese Atwood. But the most valuable player in the field, at least from the regular season through the start of the WCWS, belongs to No. 8 Stanford's pitcher NiJaree Canady, the 2024 USA Softball Player of the Year.

All of those teams, players and coaches will certainly be storylines in the Women's College World Series. But only a select team will emerge as champions.
