That's my buddy's bike. It was stolen yesterday, probably by the rider in the photo. It's a POS SV650, so if you see him, now that this has been recovered, please don't stick a broom handle in the front wheel

Yeah.
A friend saw him and recognized the bike. Not knowing what else to do, he approached the dude. Guy got sketched out and ran. Friend got that photo - thinks the wheelie was probably accidental.
It was stolen in south city, by the SFO hotels.

That sucks. Thieves suck.
Hope karma catches his ass.

With him doing a wheelie, not sure if a broom handle in the front wheel will do much

Perhaps the broom handle is better placed up his fanny?

It will if you're patient.

Found it dumped in the SE corner of golden gate park. Rider appears to have crashed it and took off on foot. They stole the exhaust. Why? Who knows!
Hoping a nearby friend can get it jumped, otherwise I'm gonna have to find a trailer to tow it to berkeley.

#1 I despise thieves, lost a beloved bike to one.
#2 I can’t wheelie that nicely on purpose, if that’s a mistake it’s kind of a really cool one.
#3 Glad your buddy got his bike back, although sounds like it had a rough time of it.

I thought I saw it there this morning. I was going the other way and there was no place to pull over. Since it was almost right in front of the Park Station I figured the cops would get involved. Was it still running when found?

Nope, ended up getting a uhaul and picking it up that way.
The dude apparently dumped it right out front; The cops eventually decided it was a strange place to park and ran the tags this afternoon. They were nice enough to give him some time to come claim it before having it impounded.
If anybody has a spare muffler... You know... For the cause.

He should be very fortunate that he got the bike back and avoiding the impound! By not having to deal with the legal extortion of the tow yard, he easily saved thousands and a boatload of anxiety!

Can't blow it up enough to tell for sure- but isn't the exhaust already off in the picture?

Good catch. It definitely is. I am guessing they removed it for outlaw style points?

I think any points gained from the no-exhaust look are negated by the width of the chicken strips.

I have this muffler you can have for free if you'd like. Has 2" inlet with universal cone-adapter. Can bring it Friday to BBBB if you want to get it there.
